DSAG successfully lobbies for SAP product improvements (Kopie 1)

Walldorf, Germany, 18th of May 2011 – A little more than six months after creating a joint initiative with SAP to continuously improve solutions already in operation,  the German-speaking SAP User Group, DSAG e. V., has already achieved some positive results. SAP recently provided the first improvements for different SAP products. These concern SAP maintenance, healthcare and customer relationship management solutions.

Products and services already in use are enhanced within the framework of the Continuous Improvement Initiative. DSAG members define and prioritise individual suggestions for improvements and set up development proposals; these members are closely involved in implementation and delivery. The realised changes are then provided promptly in the form of SAP Notes or support packages. The entire process, from the initial stage where clients define their requirements to the final stage of delivery should be completed within nine months.

A first example is the SAP Plant Maintenance solution. Thanks to the changes, users now have a better overview of procurement procedures, no longer need to make manual adjustments in the case of mass changes in the system and can benefit from automated scheduling processes. Other product improvements apply to SAP Customer Relationship Management and SAP’s healthcare industry solution, SAP for Healthcare. This is just the beginning of the process of improving SAP solutions on an ongoing basis.

    Increased level of influence
Waldemar Metz, member of the DSAG e. V. board and in charge of the initiative, explains: “Users have to be heard and allowed to participate in product enhancement on an continuous basis. In the last few months, we have defined and implemented a structured cooperation process with SAP to improve products that are already in use. We have made progress and obtained good results. What is very positive is that the initiative has increased the amount of influence DSAG members have. However, we are still in the early stages of a far-reaching process that has to include all SAP products in future.” The experience drawn from the first projects flows back into the process to further improve and standardise it. Nevertheless, not all important issues are yet clarified. There is still a need for more discussion because SAP reserves the right to decide if and when customer requirements will be taken into consideration. The DSAG is conducting talks with SAP to reach a consensus.
